5 Questions Answered about Caring for Your Window Bubble – Fifty-eight years ago, E.B. Dilworth was looking for window well covers but could not find one that met his expectations. So he decided, “If you want something done right, you’ve got to do it yourself!” His creation, the Window Bubble, remains a leader in the market of window well covers. In addition to the craftsmanship and the ease of installation, one thing that sets Window Bubble apart from the rest is the strong 3/16” clear Plexiglas® Acrylic that forms the Window Bubble.
It withstands a beating from weather, sun, and changing temperatures.
Customers often ask us how to care for their Window Bubble since they may not have experience caring for acrylic products.
Q: I hear that acrylic is strong. Is it indestructible? How gentle do I need to be with the Window Bubble?
A: Although there is a Window Bubble Guarantee which covers defects in workmanship and materials, there is no guarantee against breakage from abuse or impact. Take great care when using lawnmowers, weed whackers, or other outdoor tools near the window bubble. The Window Bubble is strong, but so is the force of the tools!
Q: We are expecting a big snowstorm, and I’m concerned about the snow piling up. How much weight can it hold?
A: Window Bubbles are designed to hold the weight of snow or fallen leaves. But they are not designed to hold the weight of a person. Please do not sit, stand, or step on the Window Bubble. If needed, we will gladly provide safety warning labels for your window bubbles so that you can communicate this to others on your property.
Q: I think I just need to cut a little bit of the Window Bubble to make it fit. Can I just go ahead and do it myself?
A: Drilling or cutting the Window Bubble without first calling our office will void the warranty. If you are having trouble getting the Window Bubble to fit, please give us a call, and we will gladly guide you through the installation process. It should be just right the way it was sent to you.
Q: Once the Window Bubble is installed, is there any reason to take it off again?
A: If you have home maintenance scheduled, such as roofing, siding, painting, or landscaping, please remove the Window Bubbles so that they are not harmed during their work. This is the kind of damage that is reported to us the most, and it is easily avoided by simply removing the Window Bubble before the contractors come.
Q: How do I keep the Window Bubble clean?
A: To keep your Window Bubble clean, use only water and mild dish detergent. Do not use paper towels or rags to wipe off the dirt since they are abrasive. Use your bare hand (first, remove your rings), swish soapy water over the cover and rinse off with a hose. Do not use any window clear or abrasives on Plexiglas®. It will scratch the surface!
